Observation

WAC 110-300-0331(1) is valid. In the video teacher Michael was asking the child inappropriate and leading questions. Dispute Description: Michael did not ask the child inappropriate and/or leading questions, just follow-up questions about where the child was hearing the language. To the knowledge of our staff, there is no video evidence that teacher Michael asked the child inappropriate and/or leading questions. The parent of the child has shared that she believes the child has learned inappropriate terminology at school. This family has been enrolled in our program for multiple years from infancy. Due to confidentiality, we are unable to disclose anything other than the child may have witnessed inappropriate things and learned such language outside of school and then shared back at school to teachers. We do not know the origins of how the child came to learn the words used. Teacher Michael has been working with Denise Louie for over a year and has always demonstrated respect and child appropriate practice with children, families and team. He has never been observed by anyone to conduct inappropriate conversations with children. Teacher Michael has been through a full day training on Conscious Discipline to practice appropriate social and emotional conversations, particularly with those who have experienced trauma in their past.
